Cooking has always been a passion of mine, there’s something about bringing loved ones together for a special meal that just warms my heart.
Sur la Table recently opened in Jacksonville and I had the pleasure of getting invited to a preview of their cooking classes.
Making pasta is simple but it’s a daunting task when you’ve never tried it before.
I’ve watched countless YouTube videos on making pasta from scratch but never pulled the trigger.
The Tuscan Pasta Dinner class was so much fun and I recommend it to everyone, in fact I signed up the day for a Croissant making class.
On the menu:
Italian Sausage Ragu with Chiati over Fresh Pappardelle Pasta
Shaved Fennel and Pear Salad with Pecorino
Olive Oil Cake with Thyme Honey Drizzle
Pasta Making Essentials:
- Pasta Machine (hand crank or motor)
- Pasta Drying Rack for storage (Amazon)
- Dough Scraper (amazon)
- Pasta cutter (Amazon version)
- Kitchenaid attachment (Amazon)
- Kitchenaid Mixer (Amazon)
Booking a Sur la Table cooking class? Here’s what you should know!
- You can bring your own wine to drink, we didn’t know this and drank water with our pasta.
- You’ll consume the food you make on the premises, you won’t be able to take any foods home that required reheating.
- Get 20% Off your next cooking class when you book on the same day you book your class.
- Get 10% Off anything in store on the same day of your class.
- There’s a small break where you’ll be able to walk around the store floor.
- Coffee, espressos, cappuccinos on the house. Just ask one of the kitchen staff.
- I’m not sure if this is with every class but for the two classes I’ve taken they provided some light snacks in the beginning of the class.
- There can be up to 4 people per station (there are four cooking stations).
- Take home a packet with recipe, equipment/tool list, your 10% off coupon, and upcoming class schedule.
Now, check out a short video of the Tuscan Pasta cooking class!
Now on to the Croissant making class!
Here’s what we made all from scratch:
Plain Croissants
Gruyere and Ham Croissants
Chocolate Croissants
What to know ahead of time for the Croissant Making Class?
- This is a 3-hour class, so come prepared to work. It takes quite a long time to make them.
- The chef prepared the dough ahead of time for us (the one we would eat) and we made the dough for the next class and so forth.
- In this class you do get to take leftover croissants home!
The croissants were so delicious, I don’t know if I’ll ever make them again, since they are very time consuming.
The made from scratch pasta on the other is definitely something I will be making in the near future!
