Kibbeh, a traditionally Lebanese Food made with bulgur wheat and ground beef is super common in my birth country of Brazil (we call it Kibe) —
Brazilians managed to put several spins on this delicious food.
You may find these at parties, gatherings or your local Brazilian store/restaurants.
Making easy recipes is my jam, if you’re craving something sweet you might wanna give my No-Bake Blueberry Energy Bites as well!
I’m putting yet another spin on this typically fried snack and making it on the Air Fryer.
This Air Fryer Kibbeh Recipes comes out crispy and soft on the inside just like its original counterpart but without having to fry it.
A super easy recipe that requires no cooking before hand, you could stuff these kibbeh with cooked ground beef as the original recipe but I prefer them without the stuffing.
Also, for the sake of time you can easily make this recipe without too much fuss by foregoing the stuffing and it tastes just as delicious.
Also note, this recipe does not require any pine nuts (I’m not a fan)
Now that you know the background of this Recipe, let’s make this Simplified Air Fryer Kibbeh Version!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Cup of Bulgur Wheat (Find in the grain section of your supermarket – I used a Brazilian brand from my local Brazilian Store, which can also be ordered online)
- 1 lb Ground Beef (I used sirloin)
- 14 oz Chopped Mint Leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp Onion powder (use finely minced onions)
- 1 tbsp garlic powder (can be fresh)
- 1 cup of hot water
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDED:
— Air Fryer Used
— Non-Slip Mixing Bowl
— Measuring Cup
— Herb Scissors
DIRECTIONS:
1 – In a bowl add the bulgur wheat and 1 cup of hot water, let it sit for about an hour covered (You can also leave it overnight). Once the bulgur wheat has softened and dried up, mix in ground beef , seasonings and chopped mint leaves.
2 – Make sure to combine all ingredients well, I prefer using my hands and really mix them well.
3 – Now you can shape them into small football shaped croquettes or balls. (about the size of an egg)
4 – If you’re stuffing your Kibbeh, this is when you’d add the filling by making a dent in the middle of mixture in your hand and close it up by pinching the ends.
5 – Place Bulgur Wheat and Beef mixture inside the Air Fryer without them touching each other, Set the temperature to 392° and 18 minutes (I like them extra crispy and set them for 20 minutes)
6 – Serve hot or at room temperature with lemon wedges, ketchup or hot sauce and Enjoy!
Kibbeh Recipe Notes:
Make a delicious Spicy Ketchup to go along with this yummy snack for a little kick, it’s super easy to make.
Combine equal parts ketchup and your favorite hot sauce and you have an easy spicy ketchup to serve up with these Air Fryer Kibbeh.
This Kibbeh recipe can be made ahead of time, place a covered bowl with mixture in the refrigerator to chill or roll out the kibbeh’s and freeze to enjoy later.
Extra tip: If you’d like to dress it up, stuff your Kibbeh with your cheese of choice for a melted cheesy center!
Make this delicious take on the traditional Kibbeh recipe and let me know how good it tastes! So delicious, I promise!
