Creating a Vision Board Tips
Well, Happy New Year My Friends!
I know we’re almost at the end of January but I still haven’t gotten my affairs in order for 2019. There’s a lot that happens during the holiday season and as soon as that’s over I have to worry about my son’s birthday!
My brain works in a way that I have to tick off one task at a time before starting on another and I haven’t been able to plan ahead for my son’s birthday party until after New Year’s Day, which makes things quite complicated and hectic. Which is why you haven’t heard much from me on the blog side.
I’m quite active on Instagram and Facebook but the blog sometimes sits on the backburner for it’s a whole other beast.
Planning for the New Year
Planning for the New Year will begin in February (yes, I know it’s late but it’s what I have to work with) and I’m excited to finally get the year going. I’ll be putting a vision board together to make things easier to accomplish and visualize.

I’ve been really focused on words of affirmation and deliberate creation. I’ve had a book sitting in my bookshelf for years now that I just got around to reading and it really spoke to me and I can’t believe I haven’t read it until now.
It’s an all-time best seller and I can’t wait to finish it all and put what I’ve learned into practice. In fact, I already have and I feel different. THINGS ARE HAPPENING! Buy the book here!
As for my vision board, I’m starting to collect words & images that speak to me to create it. I truly believe in the Law of Attraction and I’ve been applying this concept more and more into my life.
Let’s talk about creating your Vision Board
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board or a dream board is simply a tool to keep your goals fresh on top of your mind.
How do you use a Vision Board to Create Goals?
The best way to achieve your goals is to recite them to yourself on a daily basis and a vision board is a perfect tool to help you do that. The daily visual & audio cues will stimulate your mind to keep working hard to achieve your goals.
Assembling Your Vision Board
First and foremost you’ll need to think with intention about your goals and aspirations and write them down. I like to be very detailed and intentional when writing down my goals.
Plan ahead and when you’re ready to put it all on your vision board you’ll have everything you’ll need. Your images or writings don’t have to be as specific just something that reminds you of the goals you have written up.
Here are some Vision board categories and descriptions to get you started.
These are just suggestions and your vision board only needs to have goals you deem important.
- Family – More family time, Movie Nights, Pizza Nights, Game Nights, Growth as a family, Issues that need to be resolved as a family
- Personal – Read more books, taking a class, Make new friends, Be more attentive to current friends, Volunteering, dance class, Music Class, Learn a new language, Go back to school.
- Health – Exercise, drink more water, eat healthier foods, quit something (smoking, drinking, etc...) Go see a doctor, dentist, optometrist, and others.
- Emotional – Meditate, Pray, Practice Kindness, Forgive, self-care.
- Business – Open a Business, Restructure a business, set financial goals for the business, Change something, make a plan.
- Finances – Save money, Invest, Spend wisely, Emergency Fund, Make more Money
- Leisure/Fun/Travel – Concerts, Theater, Plays, Travel more, Sports, dance and more.
- Material – New House, New Car, New Clothes.

Supplies Needed For Creating a Vision Board
- Whiteboard or Cork-board (sidenote: If you don’t want it to be that big you can also do it on a sheet of paper, as long as you do it)
- Cutouts of magazines of words or images that speak to you – Anything that gets you excited and nothing that gets you to doubt it won’t happen. We want those images and words to really have an impact on you. You may also print images or words on your computer.
- Tape, pins, scissors, glue, or washi tape to get your images onto the board or paper.
- Pens or Colored Pencils if you’d like to get more specific with your goals or add a more personal touch. You may also hit up your local craft store and pick up lots of stickers and cutouts you can use.
Now you’re ready to conquer the New Year with intention and crush it!
P.s. You can also make a digital vision board online on Canva or Picmonkey, but I only recommend it if you’ll be printing it out or you are on your computer constantly where you can visualize it daily.
