Now that school is back in session sticking to a quick beauty routine has been my goal. My son started school for the first time this week and now that I have to get out the door at a certain time and not look like Chewbacca at drop off, I noticed how much more efficient I have to be at applying my makeup.
I normally don’t wear a lot of makeup and prefer to go barefaced a couple of times a week, eeeeekkkk! All joking aside, I really only apply a full face of makeup for special occasions like weddings and such, even then it’s never “YouTube Type Makeup”. If you take good care of your skin you’ll need less makeup.
I believe in creating a routine that focuses on healthy skin, which is why I always prep my face prior to any makeup application. I will post an updated morning and nighttime facial routine in a later post, stay tuned for that.
Makeup Essentials for Busy Moms
I’m listing these products in the order they were applied.
1. Tarte Tinted BB Primer
Color: Medium
Totally in love with this Primer! Two main reasons are it has SPF and it’s buildable, depending on the occasion I can apply for more or less coverage. I don’t wear foundation. I did buy the equivalent Tarte foundation but returned because it was just too much coverage for me, but it’s an option if you do like/need more coverage.

2. MAC Concealer
Color: 3.0
I purchased this particular one on clearance at Nordstrom Rack,(2 shades in stock as of this post) Mac doesn’t make them anymore, although you can still find some on Amazon , linking the I usually use by Revlon.
(Target).
3.Illuminating Lighting Powder
Color: Luminous Light – champagne pearl powder
Choosing a darker color than my complexion has allowed me to use this powder more as a light bronzer. I apply to my temples and cheekbones for a more defined face and lightly brush on the remainder of my face. I buy the refills cause it saves me money and I’m all about that.

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush
Color: Sweet or captivating -bright peach
This rosy pink has a slight shimmer, I buy the smaller version blush since I don’t use it so much… I don’t want old makeup hanging around.
( Sephora | Ulta )
5. Eyebrow Pencil
Color: 2.75
The one I used to use was discontinued – now I use the Eyebrow Pencil by Benefit but I’m trying different shades
( Sephora )
6. Tarte Eyeshadow Palette
This step somewhat changes every day, sometimes I don’t apply eyeshadow at all, sometimes I do the light shimmery color, a basic neutral, or go for a smokey effect on the top and lower lash line. Although I own other palettes, this is my go-to everyday look and for travel, since it’s compact.
(Sephora | Ulta)
7. Tarte Eye Liner
Color: Black
If I apply eyeliner I usually do a moderate cat-eye for daytime or a more bold cat-eye for nighttime. Accentuating my eyes is a big part of my makeup routine. When the one I currently have is over I’m switching to this formula from Tarte as well. ( Sephora | Ulta )
8. L’oreal Voluminous Mascara Original
Color: Black
Who doesn’t love mascara? I pretty much live in mascara, unless it’s a no-makeup day. I might even apply it on no makeup days to appear more alert. I also have the same mascara in the waterproof formula for beach/pool days.
( Ulta | Target | Amazon )
9. Lip color
I don’t have a preference for lipstick, I wear a lot of lip balm instead, but I’ve been keeping this in my purse whenever my lips feel dry, this goes on.
Update – I’ve been using this new matte stay lip instead – I’ve purchased it in several colors now because they last all day. My everyday color has been LOVER!
And that’s it! If I want to, I can apply this in 5 minutes or less. But it’s a makeup routine perfect for the busy mom that doesn’t want to look too made up but not like the living dead, you know what I mean?
I hope you enjoyed my Everyday Make for Busy Moms Post! Do you have a go-to makeup routine that’s quick? What’s a step you can’t miss?
